OUR STORY

Wines, oil and hospitality
in the hills of San Gimignano

 

Fattoria Il Piano is a family-run winery located in the hills of San Gimignano, in the heart of Tuscany.

Here we produce artisanal wines, extra virgin olive oil, grappa and Vinsanto, following methods that are rooted in tradition, with careful attention to quality and natural balance.

Alongside our farming activity, we welcome our guests to a farmhouse (Agriturismo) immersed in the quiet of the Tuscan countryside, offering an authentic experience made of landscapes, silence and flavors.

 

Winemaking Philosophy

The finest wines
are born in the vineyard

We believe that the quality of a wine takes shape first and foremost among the rows. It is here that every choice, every act of care, every gesture proves essential.

Our vineyards lie in an area historically suited to the production of wines of great character, within the Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCGSan Gimignano DOC and Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG denominations.

Although our cellars date back to the early twentieth century, at Fattoria "Il Piano" we have always made wine, and our vision has always remained the same: to work with respect for the raw material, bringing out the best of every harvest.

The grapes are hand-harvested at full ripeness and vinified in small lots. Fermentations are slow and controlled, while ageing initially takes place in concrete tanks and, for certain selections, continues in barrel, to enrich the wine with depth and complexity.

Our Vineyards

Between tradition
and evolution

Our vineyards tell the identity of Fattoria Il Piano and its deep bond with the land of San Gimignano.

Among the hills surrounding the estate, since the 1970s, we have grown the historic varieties of the Tuscan tradition, such as Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Canaiolo, Malvasia and Vernaccia, alongside international varieties such as Merlot and Chardonnay. A balance that reflects our vision: to safeguard tradition, while opening up with sensitivity to new expressions.

To these are added Syrah and Cabernet Franc, grown in the most recent vineyard, replanted in 2017, representing a further step in the company's evolutionary journey.

Every vineyard is tended with constant attention, respecting the natural balance of the land, with care, passion and deep respect for the earth.
